Betfair are the latest online betting company to report stellar results for their mobile gambling division.  The online gambling firm recently posted record first-half profits of £20.6 million for the 6 months to October 31st, a rise of over 40%

These positive results have been fuelled largely by the Betfair’s heavy investment in their mobile betting applications for iPhones, Androids, BlackBerrys and iPads.  In the 6 month period, an astonishing 16 millions bets were placed at Betfair from a smartphones and tablets.  This represents a rise of over 100% in mobile gambling over that period.

What is even more encouraging for the company is that this rise in mobile sports betting has continued to rise in the third quarter.  In November over 40% of bets placed were from a mobile phones, which resulted in a further increase of 9% in the companies revenues.

Betfair plan to take further advantage of the mobile gambling sector by introducing a range of mobile casino games for Androids, iPhones and BlackBerry devices in 2012.  Befair players will soon be able to play mobile blackjack, roulette, video poker, slots and other casino games from their smartphones and tablets.

This move into other forms of mobile gaming is expected to further boost the betting exchanges profits in 2012, with bottom line profits forecast to rise to over £70 million.
 
 
Betfair, the world’s largest online betting exchange, have launched the first every native betting app for the iPhone.  The new Betfair for iPhone app can now be downloaded from the iTunes app store in the following countries: United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Finland, Norway, Australia and New Zealand.

Betfair have seen remarkable growth in their mobile based revenue over the past 2 years.  In 2009 mobile revenue increased by over 40%, while 2010 was even more impressive, showing an increase of 50% in mobile betting revenue.
