Paddy Power have reported a 15% rise in profits for the first half of 2011, thanks mainly to their mobile sports betting division.  The bookmaker saw their pre-tax profits rise to over €57 million in the 6 month period up to the end of June.  81% of the bookmakers operating profits now come from its online and mobile betting operations.

Mobile sports betting quadrupled to almost €160 and now represent 22% of the total sports-bet stakes.  Paddy Power attributed this success to their heavy investment in mobile betting technology, such as the Paddy Poker iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry sports betting apps. The most astonishing part of these half yearly results is that Paddy Power now command 30% of the smartphone and tablet betting market, despite only having 2% of the mature market.  35% of all online sportsbook customers at Paddy Power now transact via the Paddy Power betting apps.

Paddy Power also benefited from the acquisition of Australian bookmakers SportsBet, who reported to 5% rise in winning to €48 million.  SportsBet offer one of the few Australian iPhone sports betting apps.

The bookmaker did lose heavily on a run of punter friendly bets on major sporting events and horse races, such as the Cheltenham Festival, Royal Ascot, the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Barcelona and Rory McIlroy win at the US Open.

Paddy Power, the Irish based online gambling & eGaming company, is now the fastest growing bookmaker in the United Kingdom and this trend looks set to continue following a deal betweek Paddy Power and International Game Technology (IGT) to expand their mobile gambing offering.

The new deals between the two online betting giants will mean Paddy Power can now offer a range of new mobile gambling games to their customers.  The new web apps can be accessed from the iPhone, iPop Touch and iPad Safari browser, while Android smartphone owners can play the new apps via the Android Chrome browser.

The first phase of the new deal will see Paddy Power releasing 6 new mobile gambling titles, including Jacks or Better video poker, Rainbow Riches Pots of Gold, 20+ Blackjack, Cleopatra, Wipeout and MONOPOLY Multiplier.

Paddy Power have invested heavily in mobile sports betting and gaming technology.  They were only the third online gambling operator to gain access to the Apple App Store and now offer a range of gambling native apps for both the iPad and iPhone.

Paddy Power, Ireland's largest online bookmaker, have released a downloadable versions of their popular sports betting app for iPhones.  Back in June Paddy Power an iPhone web app that had all the functionality of their regular website.  This new sports betting app was optimised for the iPhone and iPad, allowing customers open new accounts, deposit or withdraw funds, review their betting and transactions history and place multiples.

Paddy Power has now gone one better by making their betting app available for download from the Apple App Store.  Paddy Powers decision to develop a full native iPhone app was no doubt influenced by Betairs success in getting Apple to finally approve a real money gambling app.  Until then Apple have been very reluctant to allow real money betting apps into the App Store.

This new iPhone betting app is free to download from the App Store but is currently only available to Paddy Power customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.  Customers in all other jurisdictions can still use the Paddy Power browser based Web App.

The new App, which also works on the iPad and iPod Touch, gives Paddy Power customers full access to all the sports from the main site, as well as thousands of markets and novelty bets.  The Paddy Power iPhone app also supports Live Betting, Money Back Specials, Guaranteed Prices, Extra Place Specials, popular multiples, accumulators and more.
