William Hill posted some spectacular half year results today thanks largely to innovations in mobile gambling technology. The online betting giants have reported a profit of £127 million for the first half of 2011, compared to just £103 million for the same period last year. This represents a 23% increase in profits, which is quiet astonishing during a recessionary period. William Hill attributes the strong results to their heavy investment in mobile gambling apps. William Hill CEO, Ralph Topping, revealed that their mobile betting division grew by 600% to almost £4 million. Mobile sports betting now accounts for 7% of the total online sportsbook revenue.
